871W 802.11G Router
Product Description
The Cisco 870 Series Integrated Services Routers extend the high-performance Cisco Integrated Services Router capabilities of running secure concurrent services, including firewall, VPNs, and WLANs, at broadband speeds to small offices. Easy deployment and centralized management features enable the Cisco 870 Series to be deployed in small office or teleworker sites as part of an enterprise network, by small to medium business customers for secure WAN and WLAN connectivity, or used by service providers to offer business-class broadband and WLAN services.Cisco 870 Series of integrated services routers are fixed-configuration routers that support multiple types of DSL technologies, broadband cable, and Metro Ethernet connections in small offices. They provide the performance needed to run concurrent services, including firewall, intrusion prevention, and encryption for VPNs; optional 802.11b/g for WLAN networking; and quality of service (QoS) features for optimizing voice and video applications. In addition, the Cisco Router and Security Device Manager (SDM) Web-based configuration tool simplifies setup and deployment, and centralized management capabilities give network managers visibility and control of the network configurations at the remote site.

Summary: Does the job and well... 2008-08-11
Comment: First off, i am a cisco guy, i work with their products on a daily basis. Although does box here is pretty good for the monies worth. You can down load the latest SDM (GUI Management Software) and have this up and running (and pretty secured) in a matter of minutes.
For first time users, my advise...Read the manual, try out the SDM and read line for line what the SDM tells/asks you. don't go clicking on next next next as if it's a microsoft application. Take your time and follow the SDM and you will get the results that you desire.

Summary: Web Interface written by Monkey 2007-06-25
Comment: Thank any god you like that Cisco eventually purchased Linksys. Linksys knows how to create a usuable interface. Cisco makes quality hardware... Marry the two and you should get a really great kid... the 871W is a solid WAP with some truly nice features... that's impossible to configure unless you have a freaking degree in Cisco. A drunk, blind, retarded monkey could have written a better Web interface for configuring the wireless side of things. I've never used such a worthless interface in my life. Pull out your console cable and save yourself the hassle.
