The WRVS4400N 4-Port N Gigabit Security Router with VPN from Linksys offers enhanced firewall, encryption and authentication features to protect you from network threats. The WRVS4400N implements draft 802.11n (Wireless-N) technology with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) Router that features a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet switch. Comment: I even called my provider to help install this thing, but still It will not send signals to a computer that is onky 40 ft away. I wasted my money.

Summary: Two reasons not to buy 2008-10-21
Comment: The first reason not to buy this router is that wireless clients will not get an IP from the DHCP server on this device. They may get it, but only sometimes, and they will loose it for sure when trying to renew. If you manually configure your equipments, then it is Ok for you. Linksys confirmed this problem, so don't think it was bad luck, you will suffer this for sure.
The VPN does not support PPTP and the IPSec implementation does not connect to a Windows Server running RRAS or any other Microsoft Technology for VPN, so you can not use this device as a remote office gateway unless you are connecting to other Linksys VPN enabled devices.
I bought this router for the VPN feature, but I was not able to use it. There are very complicated tutorials on how to make this work with RRAS, and I followed them, but at the end I was able to reach only the RRAS server but not any other machine on the domain, so after many hours of frustration I finally quit trying. This VPN was simply no meant to work with Microsoft. I am a Microsoft Certified Professional and knows how to program CISCO router much better than all CCNA people that I know, so Don't think that It was me that could not solve the issue, It is just impossible.
I have used a 3COM Officeconnect DSL/Router for VPN with RRAS and it works perfect, both on Client and Server modes. The connection never drops.

Summary: I want my money BACK 2008-07-18
Comment: 5 Reasons why not to buy this product
1. It squiels like a pig (high pitch sound) 2. Its slow 3. Tech support is in India 4. When you upgrade the OS it goes even slower. 5. THE WORST UP TIME I'VE EVER SEEN. I really wanted to use this for a cross product (mac,pc,ps3, and Wii) node to a fast internet connection... I didn't get that. Trust me please look else where. In the end if they don't give me a refund I'll have to say I'm going with D-Link :)

Summary: Horrible router...stay away 2008-06-28
Comment: After having several Linksys routers I kind of trusted the brand, well I wasted my money on this one, it has nice features and that is why I found it attractive but simple things like enabling the firewall will block remote management, there may be a workaround but you don't want to buy this thing to spend hours of googling workarounds, so far that is what I have done, simply put don't waste your money. So far I have had no luck on getting the VPN going...will update when I get it running but it is not straight forward as you would expect.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE 2008-06-19
Comment: Problems ive had includes the device randomly forgetting configuration. I also patched the device to the lastest firmware and the device started needing to be rebooted every two to three hours. I located the issues on their website from over 6 months ago and they where all known issues with the firmware that they recommend. When i voiced these concerns 'in a very constructive manner' on their forums they removed my comments from the forum. They sell this device as business class yet support it like a 30 dollar end user print server. This is the most dissapointing network device i have ever owned. Do not buy this device!
