I am a verified purchase. I am posting this review under all three hd media series routers as the only difference is the amount of bandwidth they can handle. I own the hd media 1000. The 1000, 2000 and the soon to be release 3000 all have the AMPLIFI N+300 game fuel.
So i have been around the block with routers. I am an avid gamer and let me tell you....routers are the best worst thing ever. Lack of bandwidth, Crazy frame drops from packet loss. But hey atleast they let my girl watch netflix while i play my game so i don't get yelled at. Let me just say, because of some of the ratings that i have not had any problems with the wireless dropping out at all. NONE. End of story. i am on firmware version 1.0 and hardware version a1.
I have known for a while that i wanted a dlink because i had an old dgl-4300 that i gave to my friend after owning it for a day because he lived with his fraternity and they all had strick NAT types. They refreshed the mac address of the modem...Read more

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: D-Link Systems HD Media Router 3000 (DIR-857) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this DIR-857 to replace a Netgear WNDR3700. The Netgear works pretty well, but suffers from wireless range issues.
My setup: Comcast business class internet, 4 wireless Foscam IP cameras (2.4ghz), a micro PC running DVR software (wired), 2 XBOXes (5ghz), a Roku (5ghz), an Apple TV 3 (5 ghz), a Synology NAS (wired), several laptops, desktops, iphones/ipads, and tablets.
My requirements: Dual band, excellent wireless range, allow simultaneous XBOX Live connection (open NAT) with 2 XBOXes, QOS prioritization for XBOX and video, allow NAT loopback for accessing my DVR LAN-side, FAST WAN/internet throughput, and rock-solid, stable performance.
The dual XBOX issue works out of the box with UPnP turned on. The virtual server setup allows NAT loopback (port forwarding does not). The WISH/QOS settings work SO much better than my previous attempts with DD-WRT (XBOXes go full-steam while my NAS is backing up to CrashPlan. I have not yet had a...Read more

Great router since the DGL-4500 and DIR-825,

Everyone is going to like and enjoy this router. Very stable and very easy to set up. Gaming is great with XBL and this router. No more strict NAT while using it. Even if turning off QOS it seems to work very nicely with my SB 6180 cable modem. Very fast file xfers using 2.4 and 5Ghz wireless. Connects at 450Mb 2.4Ghz using a Trendnet 2.4Ghz wireless LAN adapter. Very impressed by it. Hasn't been anything this good since the DGL-4500 and the DIR-825. I'm dying to find out if a 450 2.4Ghz + 450 5Ghz wireless adapter will actually connect at 900Mb. This is going to be a great router for everyone for a while. I hope everyone enjoys it. Good people and support information on the dlink forums.
