I have used this as a normal router for a while now. We were in various apartments with different internet providers and I have lugged this around and it worked well. Recently I installed DD WRT on it and I am using it behind a ATT Residential Gateway. And now I have a much better router, all for such a low price.

The range on this router is good. The problem is, you cannot enable the security code on the device. Your own computer will not be recognized, unless you leave the device unsecured--which, of course, defeats one of the primary uses of a wireless router.

If you call Linksys customer service, they will not admit any knowledge, regarding this issue. But if you do an online search, you will find that this problem is common with this model.

Give it a pass...
