Product Review
Product Description
The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really four devices in one box. First, there's the dual-band Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together at up to gigabit speeds. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

Summary: Died young 2010-09-02
Comment: Dead after 15 months. I always ran this router connected to a UPS. The house has a massive surge protection system at the panel too. Despite those precautions, and with no other event to precipitate it, the router died. Bad cisco. Bad Linksys. I have tons of electronics that just keep working, including computers and modems going back eons. Not this one.

Summary: Not reliable, wireless has short range. 2010-08-25
Comment: I typically don't review products much. I was so upset about the reliability of this router, I had to post one. I purchased this router to replace an older (and reliable) linksys router. Because it had capability to connect a usb drive made it ideal for sharing media within my network. Transfering or reading files greater than 50Mb via the network storage was imposible. The router would always time out in the middle of transfering a small video file. Very unreliable connections and low retension rates. I had to reboot this thing at least once every week. Having thought the issue was firmware related, I upgrated to the latest firmware. Bad mistake! Upgrade process was successful, but the router never connected to the internet again. I've done chats with tech support trying to role back to a previous version. Apparently linksys does not keep up with firmware history. The router would not let me roll back to a previous firmware version. I will never purchase a linksys products again because of the reliability and support. I've replaced with a D-link router and not had any problems with my network since. I get a reliable connection all the time and the range on the wireless is phenominal.

Summary: Garbage--disconnects a lot and you have to keep turning it on and off 2010-08-06
Comment: This thing was good for about a year, and now it disconnects itself every so often. The Cable signal is very strong, so I know it's not the cable company or their signal, nor is it the modem. The Linksys router simply stops emitting wifi signal every 45-60 minutes. You have to crawl under the desk and unplug it, wait, then plug it back (same with the modem) to keep it going again.

This is a very common problem with these shoddy Cisco / Linksys modems. Do a google search for "linksys disconnects" and you will see what I mean. This is pure garbage, to charge $250 for this when for $50 you can get the tiny Apple passport which I've had for years and still emits a good signal without a need to unplug it once in a while.

Forget playing online games with Linksys products, you will simply get disconnected every now and then.

Summary: Piece of Junk 2010-07-31
Comment: Piece of junk. Tried to hook it up to a state of the art new computer. No luck. Tried another no luck. Finally tried a third no luck. Threw it in the rubbish. Finally some luck.
