Additionally, furthering NETGEAR's support of the environment, ProSafe Plus Switches have power-saving Green Ethernet technology. I now have purchased 8-10 of these for various projects. It is a 4 POE + 4 Standard gigabit switch and is about the best one you can buy for the price (typically $150). I get great throughput when I use it and have not had any trouble with it powering devices correctly. The POE itself is auto-sensing. You can plug any device into the POE ports without concern. However, because of the POE auto-sensing capability used with the switch, if the device being connected is out of spec for the amount of power it is calling for, then it will not start up.
