Combining revolutionary simplicity, business-class performance, and affordability, the Netopia R910 Ethernet Router allows multiple users to securely access the Internet through a single DSL or Cable modem.The R910 protects a local area network (LAN) from unauthorized access and attacks with a built-in Firewall. Integrated Secure VPN allows remote users, remote offices, and trusted business partners to access the LAN from anywhere on the Internet using a secure, encrypted tunnel. Best of all, Netopia?s implementation of Secure VPN uses the built-in VPN client included with Microsoft Windows. The R910 Router includes an integrated 4-port Ethernet hub for connecting workstations, servers or printers. Integrated Network Address Translation (NAT) and robust Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) support allow both the R910 Router and LAN to be fully configured without entering IP addresses.Netopia also includes Dynamic MultiNAT, which provides support for dynamic use of ISP-provided IP addresses for multimedia applications.Only Netopia takes such powerful business-class features and makes them so easy-to-use and affordable. The R910 router was designed to work only with firmware versions 4.8 or later.

Summary: Great performance and reliiability 2004-03-19
Comment: nobody does broadband access better than Netopia. that is because of their products and their USA based tech and customer support. in this day of 'disposable' equipment, Netopia keeps on producing the best in class and helping with upgrades and support too.

Summary: VPN server built in 2003-10-09
Comment: So for your small network you need a Router, 4port hub and occationally want to connect to it from on the road.this is the box you want, It will do everything other routers do
plus it has a VPN SERVER that works with windows right out of
the box. It natively support PPTP, so you do not need additional software. Beware with other VPN server like linksys you WILL need a client software it you are using windows. Negative: telnet administration, with more learning curve than
the web based interfaces you see with Linksys, etc.
