Summary: Easiest Router I've ever used 2010-06-06
Comment: I used the supplied installation CD to get my primary PC connected to the internet. This step worked flawlessly. After I connected my second PC it could reach the internet right away with no problems. I am running Vista 64 bit on the primary PC and Windows XP 64 bit on the second PC. I would definitely buy this router again.

Summary: works great 2010-04-15
Comment: I was a little skeptical when I bought this unit, but it was the cheapest one i could find that was a REAL router and had 8 REAL ports and not wireless. I set it on the rack, hooked it to the cable modem, set in all eight cables and every machine voiced their connections. Just like that. it was great, and not a hint of a problem since then. I have bought two more, and all our machines are now on them, regardless of their system software. Yes, we do have all Macs, and that may make a difference, but I do not hesitate in recommending this TP-Link router.

Summary: Blows away older Linksys 2010-04-12
Comment: Hello Amazon,
I found this Router very easy to set up and the speed is tremendous.
I use Comcast and didn't realize that Routers can be limited in their LAN to WAN Speed...

Here's what I mean:

My Older Linksys Router, although supposedly a 10/100 Router could only go a maxiumum of 10 MB/s between the Router and the Modem! So when you would do a Speedtest online, you'd get a maximum of 5-8 MB/s.

ALL we did was change to this router and down are download speed is 22 MB/s!!!!

It screams.

It is VERY easy to setup and comes with an easy setup CD (which I didn't need to use.)

Also, when you log into it -- http://192.168.1.1 be sure to turn on the Firewall and turn on all the optional security settings.

I did all this and then tested it with all the online Firewall testing sites...It returned a PERFECT score.

This router is honestly the best value on the planet.

The other low grade reviewers are being a bit harsh because they couldn't figure it out...It is no harder than any other router.

One more tip....

UNPLUG YOUR MODEM and turn it back on after installing this...I DID have to do that in order for it to get a fresh IP Address...If one didn't know to do that, they could get confused.

I would NOT hesitate to buy this router again...In fact, I am buying an extra for a spare, just in case they stop making it.

Cheers!

Summary: Finally an item that is worth more than your money! 2010-02-27
Comment: I ordered this router thinking you get what you pay for. I used to have a lynksys wireless 4 port router wrt54-gl. With that router the max throughput on internet speed test was 7Mbps. With this router I get 10Mbps. I have 8 computers plugged into this router and 2 of them use 4 ports . The 4 ports used are for my at home job. This router is performing well beyond expectations. I would not hesitate to recommended this router to anyone that needs 8 ports. As a matter of fact I have ordered a spare in case it fails because of my job. I think that the person that said they took 2 hours setting it up probably didn't know that much about networking. I installed mine without making any changes and it worked perfect right out of the box. I do have roadrunner cable service. Maybe using DSL makes it more difficult to set up.

Summary: Better than I thought 2010-01-28
Comment: Having read many mixed reviews on TP-Link products, I was wary to try one of their products but couldn't resist the price. I installed my new TP-Link as the backbone and DHCP server for my home network, with high-speed internet provided by Time Warner cable. I turned off DHCP on my old Linksys wireless router and connected it to the TP-Link with a crossover cable. I then hooked up my HP gigabit switch, which connects my A/V equipment (including a dedicated media center PC, a Roku and a blu-ray player), to the TP-Link. After a "reboot" of everything, my network was working as intended. We can now log onto our home network with Nintendo DS's using WEP security. I found the admin interface organized and easy to navigate, including helpful explainations on the right side of the screen...even better than the Linksys screen. Previous IP conflicts or drop-outs have not occured since installation.
