The FRE 040-2 features a MC68040 processor and is capable of forwarding rates exceeding 125, 000 pps (64-byte packets), delivering wire-speed performance for multiple hubbed Ethernet and Token Ring LANs, T3 services, and ATM network connections. The BLN and BCN support a full line of FRE link modules, providing connectivity for 100BASE-T, Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, MCT1/E1, and serial interfaces. Compatibility of FRE link modules across Bay Networks router products, including the FN, LN, and CN, ensures maximum flexibility and makes sparing efficient and cost-effective. FRE link modules are easy to install and configure.
