At the time of this writing, reviews on this product were few and far between. I went ahead and gambled on the purchase. This unit has replaced an older USR8200 VPN router, a small Gigabit hub and a B/G WiFi access point. That was my intent, to replace 3 devices with one while upgrading to wireless n. The unit was easy enough to configure for someone that knows what they're after although I wouldn't call it a no brainer. After a few months of being up and running, the unit has proven stable and reliable. So like any new tech, you may have a couple headaches getting everything up and running the way you want it but once configured, this little unit seems to be a solid performer. I have not yet connected my USB modem so I cannot comment on how well that fail-over feature works.

I bought two Zyxel routers to setup both a site-to-site VPN between my regular office and my home office, and user VPN logins for two staff while they are on the road. As of September 2011, Zyxel has a problem with LT2P and IPsec in their firmware which they are fixing. The PPTP VPN works fine and was easy to setup.

This router can produce two Wifi SSIDs, e.g., Workers and Guests. You can separate them so that Guests cannot see devices that have connected to workers *wirelessly*, but if a device is connected by a cable - e.g., a server, a printer -- that device can be seen by both SSID networks, thus making the dual band feature useless unless all your devices are WiFi.

The range is disappointing. My Linksys does a better job.

The router is easy to setup, and I am happily removing my expensive Cisco router which required an external Cisco certified consultant every time I wanted to make a change. I setup our PPTP VPN in less than five minutes,...Read more
