With ZyXEL's exclusive Media Bandwidth Management v2 (MBM v2), the NBG-334W provides the most comprehensive way to smartly manage your limited bandwidth for multimedia applications.The NBG-334W performs stateful inspection filtering for effective network protection. With the default firewall settings, all outgoing and incoming traffic in the protected LAN is checked. The firewall feature includes TCP / UDP inspection, DoS (Denial of Services) detection and prevention, real time alert, reports and logs.Enabled by the Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) technology, a subset of the IEEE 802.11e WLAN QoS draft standard, the NBG-334W heightens users' experience on audio, video and voice applications over wireless networks. Without the Quality of Service (QoS) capability, all applications on different devices are given equal priority to transmit data frames; this may work well for web browsing, file transferring or emailing applications, but it is inadequate for multimedia applications such as VoIP conversation, video streaming or interactive gaming.Multimedia applications are highly sensitive to latency or throughput reductions, and they all require QoS for optimal performance. WMM defines four access categories (voice, video, best effort and background) for traffic prioritization to provide enhanced multimedia presentation.

Summary: Simply stopped working ! 2010-05-07
Comment: I brought this item about 16 months ago. I have to admit that it was easy to configure, come with a very useful usb adapter for desktop machines and I did not have any problems having more than 1 device connected to the internet at the same time. Nevertheless, since the instalation day i could not get a constant connection for more than 1 hour and for some reason last week the device simple STOPPED WORKING, it is not assigning any ip addresses, i can not access the GUI, further more... is not responding to the factory reset button. The only function i can certainly say it's doing, is power consumption. I definitively not recommend this device.

Summary: They actually have Tech Support! 2009-09-12
Comment: I had a heck of a time getting this router to work on a network that uses a Hughes satellite modem -- due to a setting I wasn't aware of. Of course I put off calling tech support "knowing" that'd be a pain. Finally I called out of desperation and was very pleasantly surprised to reach a human, native English speaker, with only a 60 second wait time! I described the symptoms and he had the answer immediately -- so I had the router working properly within 3 minutes of calling support. I've had reasonably good luck with this brand in the past so rating this at 4 stars. My past experience however is that routers in this price range (all brands) often fail within 18 months or so; thus not 5 stars.

Summary: Piece of unsupported junk! 2009-08-22
Comment: Bought this router about 6 months ago and have been trying everything ever since to get it to allow 2 machines to access the Internet at the same time. Impossible! I posted the problem, along with the router's log file showing the DHCP connections, on the Zyxel website and was told to contact a local professional. What the heck does that mean? Worthless router and support!

Comment: I have till date purchased 5 of these. I recommend them to my office personnel's for use at home. Configuring is easy. NEVER DROPS!. Also there are 2 networks you can setup , one for guest and one for self. Both WLAN will have diffrent SSID and password. You can also control how much bandwidth you wish to provide to the guest network. can be setup as a router or a access point. very good and stable code. Will recommend to everyone.

Comment: i must start this by saying i am about a s dumb as they come with pc. so i bought this based on the price.well as soon as i hooked it up it worked....with the yellow cable that came with it. after 3 weeks of trying to get the "wireless "side to work i gave up. then one night i was bored and tried once again to get it working. my problem was my pc would not download some disc that came w/ the router. but as soon as i turned the wireless feature on my labtop, it then allowed me to download the disc, and i was up in running in 10 mins. im sure if i knew what i was doing from the start i wouldnt have thrown it in the conner and feel like i wasted 46.36(s/h). but since ive got it to work i must say this is a 5 star product all the way. but i do worn for you newbies like my self, the tech support is in the uk, so that 50 cents a min for any question you may have. ive taken my labtop out side just to check the range and man is it good. well with this said , if you can get it to work its worth the 39.99.
