Comment: Review1
I just got a new 802.11n router from Zyxel and it's really good. I had a Dlink g router and was waiting for the "n" standard to come out, but everything is still draft n. Anyway, I finally caved in and Zyxel's was the newest n router so I picked it up. Setup was simple. Just plug it in and connect it to your modem, turn your modem off and on, and it worked. You can configure it using your web browser, and then set up security and all that stuff. It's easy. You can also set it up so it uses your bandwidth the way you want, like you can make online gaming more important than IPTV or whatever.

Comment: Great router for the money - super fast and great range. Hadn't heard of zyxel before but was pleasantly surprised - no complains so far

Summary: Beware Sudden Death 2008-11-19
Comment: I'm here looking for a new router to replace the ZyXEL X550 (not this N version) that died suddenly sometime last night.
I woke up to discover that my network (mostly wireless machines) was down. The X550's indicator lights were still on, and the cable modem showed it was fine, so I decided to reboot the router by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
When I restored power, the modem was dead. No lights, nothing. I tried different outlets, but the router is just dead. I had been using the router for just about one year. (I actually bought it two years ago to replace a Netgear router that I thought had gone bad, but I was able to revive it, so I didn't even unbox the X550 until last year.)
The sad thing is, the X550 worked like a champ up until its sudden death. It had a reasonably good control panel with plenty of features. I used many of the virtual server settings, MAC filtering, and so forth.
But having the router conk out after one year of service is unacceptable.
